The Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences at Ondokuz Mayıs University (OMÜ) bid farewell to its graduates of the 2025–2026 academic year at a ceremony.
The graduation ceremony, held at the OMÜ Life Center, was attended by Vice Rector Prof. Dr. Alper Kesten, Rector’s Advisor Prof. Dr. Serkan Şen, Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences (İTBF), and the İTBF Alumni Representative Prof. Dr. Muhammet Bahadır, as well as faculty members, graduating students, and their families.
The ceremony continued with speeches by dignitaries.
“The true value of a university lies not in its buildings, but in the people it educates” In his opening remarks, Dean Prof. Dr. Vedat Keleş stated that graduation is not merely a ceremony, but the day when a journey spanning many years becomes visible. Noting that disciplines under the faculty’s umbrella—such as history, archaeology, geography, philosophy, psychology, sociology, and Turkish Language and Literature—all fundamentally ask the same question, “What is a human being?” Keleş emphasized that in a world where technology is changing rapidly, the only constant need is the need for human beings. Thanking the families by calling them “unsung heroes,” Keleş addressed the graduates, saying, “The true value of a university lies not in its buildings, but in the people it nurtures.”
